Once again, Funke Akindele demonstrated her ability to draw crowds to the cinema, showing her continued success as a filmmaker. Her latest box office-breaking film, ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ has been a talking point among film enthusiasts.
The thriller has been praised for its cinematography, writing, and the performances of its cast.
It features, Nse Ikpe-Etim, Timini Egbuson, Jide Ekene Achufusi, others. To be sincere, I have yet to read a negative review of the film since its release. And that’s rare!
It’s been numerous clips online of movie-goers in cinemas cheering and applauding at the end of the film. No wonder ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ emerged as the highest grossing film of 2023.
There is no doubt that Funke is here to stay.

Not forgetting South Africa’s Tyla whose Grammy-nominated song ‘Water’ became a viral sensation on social media platforms.
As the Grammy week fast approaches, expectations are high for all the nominees, including previous winner, Burna Boy. It’s a huge accomplishment for Nigeria and the continent of Africa at large, as it opens up more talented artists from the motherland to new audiences around the world.

The list won’t be complete without a mention of Flavour’s latest studio album – African Royalty. The 12-track album received positive reviews from indigenous and nonindigenous listeners.
African Royalty is a celebration of African culture and history. It showcases Flavour’s talent for combining different genres while keeping a consistent theme of African pride and power. The lead song, ‘Woman King,’ once again demonstrates Flavour’s appreciation for womanhood through his music.
While the big boys anthem ‘Big Baller’ (a personal favourite) is a celebration of wealth and success.

Nigerian Film Blood Vessel topped the list on Netflix

Blood Vessel, a new film by Playnetwork Studios garnered 4.4 million views in six days!
It has reached the top 10 most watched films on Netflix in 22 countries, and is number one in the non-English film category. The film tells the story of six friends who become caught up in a political conflict in the Niger-Delta, and try to escape as stowaways on a boat to South America. It’s a gripping story that has caught the attention of viewers around the world.
Wizkid and Davido ‘bromance’
The video of Nigerian music stars Davido and Wizkid interacting affectionately was remarkable too. We can’t get enough of the bromance. The way Davido leaned in to whisper something in Wizkid’s ear, it was clear from their body language that they had developed a deep sense of trust and intimacy.
The highlight of the video was when the DJ played David’s hit song “Feel,” and he and Wizkid started dancing together in harmony. Their recent bromance has left the Wizkid FC and 30 BG fan club feeling optimistic about a future collaboration.
